Moving Van

Moving Van first started when Liam McKay, fresh out of college and newly arrived in San Francisco, reached out to some of his friends for a jam session in August 2019. With McKay on drums, Ian Carlton on keys and vocals, Josh Clouse on guitar, and Lars Aquinonez on bass, it wasn't long before a cool funk-soul-rock sound began to emerge. The four decided to start pursuing shows under the name MB4. Then, 2020 happened, and everything was put on hold.

After the pandemic reset everything, Carlton decided to focus on keyboards, and the band changed their name to Moving Van while recruiting Miranda Shakes as lead vocalist. Shakes' lyrics and melodies helped shape the band's initial creative direction and their first round of releases until she moved to Seattle in March of 2023. In their first and so far only post-Covid lineup shuffle, Alise Bradford joined as the new lead singer, and Kobe Tabulinar was recruited as a reserve bassist, eventually becoming the primary bassist when Aquinonez switched to saxophone.

Bradford's first show with the band was at Bottom Of The Hill in San Francisco in May 2023, where they first met Aaron Roche of Weird Fruit Records, who would later record and produce their 2025 EP The Church Sessions.

Moving Van continues to develop their sound and looks forward to many future moves, grooves, and weird fruits.
